How to Plan a Beautiful Wedding on a $15K Budget

Planning a wedding on a 15k budget doesn’t mean sacrificing style or joy. The average U.S. wedding costing over $30,000…and if you are anything like my husband and I were, we did not have that kind of money, nor did we see the value of spending that much on one day (just our opinion and conviction). So aiming to have a $15,000 celebration may seem very difficult however, It is actually very doable! It’s all about making smart and intentional choices.

Here’s how to create a wedding budget that works—and still delivers the magic for 15k (or less)!

If you have a wedding budget less than 15k check out my blogs catered to 10k budget (which is what my husband and I aimed for) and 5k budgets!

Big Considerations When Creating Your Wedding Budget

Before diving into exact numbers, these are the questions you and your fiancé need to ask yourselves (try answering separately then share and discuss):

  • What are your top 3 priorities? (e.g., photography, food, venue, colors, center pieces…)
  • How many guests can you realistically afford? (estimating $20 per head just for food)
  • Are you willing to DIY or accept help from friends/family?
  • Will you serve alcohol? If so, open bar or limited?
  • Will you do your own hair and makeup or hire a pro?
  • Do you want a live band, DJ, or curated playlist?
  • Do you want a specific theme or aesthetic?
  • Will you hire an officiant or ask a friend to get ordained?
  • Do you have any non-negotiables?

These answers will shape your budget and help you make tough decisions later!

  • Track every expense in a spreadsheet or app.
  • Get multiple quotes before booking vendors.
